New Staff

Abir Hassan is a graduate of the University of Windsor, where she earned both a Master of Social Work and a Juris Doctor degree. Prior to her legal studies, she obtained an Honours Bachelor of Social Work from the same institution.

While in Law School, Abir gained practical experience as a summer student at Legal Assistance of Windsor during her first year, and as a Social Justice Fellow in her second year. Abir was very active in the Faculty of Law; she served as President of the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers Windsor Law Chapter, and as a Junior Editor for the Windsor Review of Social and Legal Issues. Additionally, Abir contributed to fostering a safer campus environment as a member of the Sexual Assault Awareness Committee and the Faculty of Law Equity and Diversity Committee. Since joining Cheryl A. Hodgkin – Family Law Firm in September 2023, Abir has consistently exhibited dedication and diligence in her work. Her focus on Family Law stems from her genuine desire to help individuals navigate challenging legal situations with empathy and expertise.

Outside of her legal work, Abir enjoys hiking, exploring new cuisines, and volunteering her time to support causes close to her heart. We look forward to Abir joining us as a lawyer once she receives her call to the Bar.
